Tin Hau Festival in Po Toi Island

PO TOI ISLAND

Date: the 3rd month of the lunar year

The Tin Hau Festival in Po Toi Island is a cultural festival with a long-standing tradition. During this period, local residents would gather in Tin Hau Temple and conduct a series of sacrificial and celebration ceremonies. The whole festival represents praying for blessings and wishes. Other than that, the five-day and four-night ritual operas are performed on scaffolding stages, allowing people to experience the traditional cultural atmosphere of harmony between humans and gods when they are appreciating the operas. These activities are not only a demonstration of religious belief, but also a cultural treasure passed down from generation to generation by the Po Toi residents.
