Lantau Country Park is divided into Lantau South, Lantau North, and the Lantau North Extension. Lantau South Country Park (the Park), established in 1978, is the largest country park in Hong Kong, covering approximately 56 square kilometers. It is renowned for its pristine natural landscapes, diverse ecosystems, and rich cultural heritage. The Park includes Cheung Sha, Mui Wo, Ngong Ping, and the surrounding mountains, coastline, and wetlands. Visitors can enjoy hiking on trails (including the South Lantau Country Trail), birdwatching, coastal walks, and spectacular sea-and-mountain view. Lantau South Country Park offers a rare opportunity for ecological recreation and environmental education.
