Po Toi Island

Po Toi Island, Islands District

Po Toi Island is located in the southeastern part of Hong Kong. In the past, it was rich in seaweed and shaped like cushions, hence the name “Po Toi Island” (literally “Cushion Seaweed Island”), later shortened to “Po Toi”. It is a small island renowned for its granite landforms and weathered rock formations. After years of erosion by ocean waves and winds, the island gradually developed a variety of natural rock formations, including Conch Rock, Monk Rock, and Buddha’s Palm Rock, all showcasing the marvellous craftsmanship of nature. Travellers can take an inter-islands ferry from Aberdeen or Stanley to Po Toi Island and enjoy an outlying island trip featuring spectacular sea views and unique rock formations.
