Lamma Winds
Tai Ling, Lamma Island
Being Hong Kong’s first wind power station, the Lamma Winds stands as one of the famous landmarks on Lamma Island. The power station generates an average of about one million kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by around 800 tonnes compared to traditional coal-fired power generation. There is an exhibition area in the station, providing visitors with information about renewable energy and its applications.
Note: HK Electric announced on 25 March 2026 that the Lamma Winds had reached its 20-year design life limit in February 2026. The facility will be closed by HK Electric later this year, with the specific date to be announced separately.
