Cheung Po Tsai Cave
Cheung Chau, Islands District
The Cheung Po Tsai Cave is tucked away on the southwest side of Cheung Chau, with an entrance barely wide enough for one person to pass at a time. Legend has it that Cheung Po Tsai, a famous pirate during the Qing Dynasty, used the cave as a hideout and a treasure stash to evade official pursuit. The Cheung Po Tsai Cave derives its name from such a tale, which adds a mysterious aura to the site. Not far from the cave stands the seaside Tin Hau Temple. The surrounding natural scenery is picturesque, making the spot appealing to both history and culture enthusiasts as well as eager explorers.
