Tung Wan and Kwun Yam Wan
Cheung Chau, Islands District
Tung Wan and Kwun Yam Wan are located on the eastern side of Cheung Chau and are two distinctive beach retreats on the island. The Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach is the island’s largest and most accessible beach, and is equipped with comprehensive facilities including toilets, shower facilities and changing rooms. The beach is close to the ferry pier and the town centre, with various snack bars nearby. With crystal-clear water and silky sand, it is a great place to chill out and enjoy water sports.
Kwun Yam Wan is further away from the town centre but adjacent to Tung Wan, equipping with well-developed water sports facilities. It was the training ground for Hong Kong Olympic windsurfing gold medalist Lee Lai-shan and now houses the Cheung Chau Windsurfing Centre. The centre offers a wide range of water sports equipment, including windsurfers, kayaks and standup paddle boards, making it perfect for water sports enthusiasts. In addition, barbecue facilities are also available near the beach.
