Lung Mo Temple

15 Chi Yan Street, Tung Wan, Peng Chau, Islands District

The Lung Mo Temple on Peng Chau (also known as “Yuet Lung Sing Yuen”) is dedicated to the worship of the Dragon Mother (Lung Mo). It is said that “Auntie Chung”, the temple’s founder, visited the Lung Mo Temple in Yuecheng, Guangdong, in the early 1940s to celebrate the Lung Mo Festival. That night, Lung Mo appeared in her dream, instructing her to bring the worship of the goddess to Hong Kong. Afterwards, Auntie Chung founded the Lung Mo Temple in Kwai Chung, and subsequently relocated the temple to its current site on Peng Chau in the 1970s. Today, the temple’s annual Lung Mo Festival celebration is included on the Hong Kong’s Intangible Cultural Heritage inventory. This local festival attracts a large number of devotees and visitors to pay their respects.
