Tai Chung Bridge (Tai O Creek Pedestrian Bridge)
Tai O, Lantau Island
Completed in 1996, the Tai Chung Bridge is the main pedestrian bridge connecting Tai O Market Street and Tai O Wing On Street. The bridge is designed as a drawbridge that can be raised to allow the passage of larger vessels. Before the construction of the bridge, residents relied on hand-pulled ferries to cross the river. Nowadays, the bridge has become a popular photo-taking spot for visitors. During daytime, visitors can enjoy the panoramic views of the river and the picturesque arrangement of stilt houses from the bridge. In the evening, visitors can savour the interplay of sunset and evening glow in tranquility, immersing into the leisurely pace of life in the water village and the unique charm of Tai O’s fishing community.
